NICE Care

Every day, we help turn small achievements into lifelong progress.

At NICE we teach children and adults with movement disorders strategies to gain control over their movements leading to increased confidence, skills, and a higher level of potential. All our activities focus on the delivery of a specialised system of rehabilitation called Conductive Education, which is based on a ‘simple’ concept of human potential; meaning that everyone has the capability to learn and develop irrespective of their starting point. We believe that individuals affected by movement disorders should not be limited by their disability but instead the focus should be on what they can do.

Children

At NICE we believe that every child should be involved in their learning. Conductors provide specialised and individualised support to children, guiding and motivating them to realise what they ‘can do’, celebrating each small step of achievement. We believe that, by nurturing the child to explore movement, have fun and succeed that they will learn skills which are meaningful in everyday life.

Adults

Every adult with a neurological movement disorder should be respected and at NICE we listen and support them in achieving their life goals. We see the ‘person’; someone who wants to learn and develop skills that are important to them.

We also recognise that carers and family members are also living with a movement disorder and often need support, guidance and practical help. By working with the whole family we can help support a home environment which provides opportunities for the person to develop skills which are meaningful in everyday life.

The Conductive College

The college provides a range of accredited and non-accredited training courses for professionals and families in the field of Conductive Education.

Our courses are fully accredited by awarding bodies where necessary, such as Birmingham City University and AIM Qualifications and Assessment group. Our courses range from Level 3 qualifications, through BA hons to an MA in Conductive Education. We are the only place in the UK to train conductors.

The Conductive College is a key tool for the development of Conductive Education in the future and an essential part of the work of NICE.
