Safeguarding

NICE is committed to safeguarding all the vulnerable people we work with. We encourage a culture where issues are quickly identified, investigated and lessons are learned.

The welfare of our children and adults is paramount. Everyone that uses our services have the right to protection from all types of harm or abuse. We work in partnership with our children, adults, parents, carers and other agencies in promoting their welfare.

We will safeguard our children and adults by valuing, listening to and respecting them.

We will share information about concerns with agencies who need to know, and involve parents, adults and children appropriately ensuring appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individual/s who raise or disclose the concern. We ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored.

We follow a robust recruitment process to prevent the employment of unsuitable individuals following the principles for Safe Recruiting, which includes DBS checks, references, employment history and interviews.

Responsibilities

Every member of staff working at NICE has a responsibility to safeguard our children and adults. We have three Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL’s) who work closely with each and the wider staff team to ensure this takes place. Staff undertake regular training throughout the year to ensure they are up to date with latest legislation and that useful discussions are had within this area.

If you have a concern when at NICE, please speak to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads. They are, Marie McCann (Chief Executive), Fiona Bilsborough (Head of School) and Maggie Lewis (Children’s Services Administrator).

Please see our Safeguarding Policy for more detailed information about our procedures and processes.
