Adult Services

Conductive Movement Therapy for adults with Cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke survivors, and other movement disorders.

Conductive Movement Therapy (CMT) is built on the principles of Conductive Education, a holistic approach that views movement difficulties not only as a medical issue but also as something that can be improved through learning, practice and persistence. CMT is designed for adults with acquired and progressive movement disorders, such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions.

Through CMT, adults are supported to develop practical strategies to improve control over their movements. This can mean finding new ways to carry out everyday tasks, rediscovering abilities that may feel lost, or learning techniques to maintain independence for as long as possible. Over time, this structured and supportive approach can lead to greater confidence, resilience and functional skills that make a real difference to daily life.

Every programme at NICE is highly personalised. Our experienced and dedicated therapists take time to understand each individual’s needs, abilities and goals, tailoring sessions so they are both challenging and achievable. The sessions are delivered in a motivating group setting or on a one-to-one basis, always with the aim of helping participants gain the tools they need to live well with their condition.

Importantly, our therapy services are open to everyone, not only those in Birmingham. We know people’s circumstances differ, so we offer a range of flexible options, including:

  • Intensive courses that provide focused input over a shorter period
  • Regular weekly sessions to build progress step by step
  • Individual advice and follow-up support, available both face-to-face and online

At NICE, our aim is to help people see what is possible, not just what has been lost. Through Conductive Movement Therapy, we empower adults living with movement disorders to keep learning, adapting and achieving greater independence in their everyday lives.
