NICE Philanthropy

Are you passionate about making a difference and changing people’s lives for the better?

Make a meaningful impact by becoming one of our major donors. Together, we can ensure that no one faces a movement disorder alone.

By making a major gift, you will make a real difference to our work supporting individuals with incurable movement disorders such as children born with cerebral palsy and adults recovering from a stroke, pushing the boundaries of their own potential, so that they can live the life they want and deserve.

Why we need support

There is an increasing need in the UK for physical therapy and educational services for people living with a movement disorder. Movement is an essential part of everyday life, and a physical disability, whether from birth or a diagnosis later in life, can seriously affect a person’s life, as well as their families. This can bring uncertainly, worry and a fear about what the future will hold when individuals and families are told what they won’t be able to do; NICE challenges this narrative by bringing hope through showing what they can do.

Our work through Conductive Education is unique, and there are no similar statutory services in the UK. Disability prevalence in the UK has risen steadily since 2002/2003, when 18% of the population had a disability, whilst 25% had a disability in 2023/2024. Mobility was the most frequent reported impairment type amongst people of State Pension age with a disability, affecting 69%.[1] As conditions such as Parkinson’s become more prevalent, it is even more crucial that our services continue to provide much needed intervention.

What your major gift could do

There are several of our services and projects that you could give to. Many major donors decide to give an unrestricted gift to us so that we can use their gift in the areas that matter the most.  Others decide to give specifically to one of our services and capital projects, such as:

  • Milestone Club (0 -3 years old) – a free provision for families with children who are displaying a delay in meeting their milestones of child development
  • Red Boots Preparation for School (3-4 years old) – these free sessions offer children an opportunity to work in a small group. This is an important stage int their life and it is important that they start to understand how they can use their movement skills to develop their confidence, social skills and access academic learning.
  • Red Boots Primary School – this is our independent school for children aged 5 – 11 years. The focus is to integrate therapy and education in one place and at one time. The school is funded through local authority funding and topped up by NICE’s charitable bursary scheme.
  • Adult Services – provides Conductive Movement Therapy for adults with cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke survivors and other movement disorders.
  • NICE Community Hub – our current capital development will create a community hub for our families, providing advice and guidance sessions to support them, coffee mornings and peer support sessions, which will in turn support the overall wellbeing of our families.
