Every child deserves the best possible start in life, regardless of their physical challenges or their family’s financial circumstances.
For young children with movement-based disorders, access to the right support in the earliest years can be truly life-changing. At NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders, Conductive Education offers a proven, holistic approach that helps children develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills while empowering their families along the way. By funding families to attend Conductive Education services, charities have the opportunity to create lasting impact — not only for individual children, but for families, communities, and society as a whole.
The early years are critical for brain development. Funding access to Conductive Education during this window maximizes a child’s potential for mobility, independence, and communication—often reducing lifelong dependency on care and services.
Impact: Targeted early investment → lifelong gains.
Conductive Education combines physical, cognitive, and social learning in a single programme. It empowers children to develop independence and essential life skills, rather than focusing solely on therapy. CE is highly hands-on: trained conductors set up appropriately challenging activities and manually guide and model movements for each child, and through repetition, help the child learn, practice, and ultimately master the skills.
Impact: Conductive Programme = progress in all areas of the child’s development
Due to ongoing pressure on the NHS, many young children are unable to access regular physiotherapy at the time they need it most. Long waiting lists and limited appointments mean families are often left without early support. Financial support for Conductive Education helps fill this gap, gives families the chance to act early, rather than waiting for support that may come too late, ensuring children receive vital early intervention when it can make the greatest difference.
Impact: Earlier support = better outcomes
Conductors work with parents, grandparents and carers, as partners, teaching them how to support their child’s development at home. Funding enables families to attend consistently, which builds confidence, reduces isolation, and strengthens family resilience.
Impact: Supported families = Empowered families.
Many families already face high costs for therapy, medical appointments, equipment, and transport. This is why at NICE, thanks to our fundraising activities we are able to provide FREE fortnightly group services for children aged 0-4 years old. For more regular sessions and for children over 4 we also subsidise our services however we cannot provide these for free. For families to gain funding ensures access to CE is based on need, not income, promoting fairness and equal opportunity.
Impact: No child misses out because of money.
Children who gain greater functional skills early often need:
Impact: Preventative funding saves public and charitable resources in the long term.
Caring for a child with additional needs can be emotionally and physically exhausting, as recognised by NICE. To support families, we offer a range of wellbeing activities, including workshops, coffee mornings with presentations or interactive sessions. We created a WhatsApp Parents Support Group to enhance communication between our participants. Funding enables families to access all these additional benefits, giving parents:
Impact: Reduced stress, improved family wellbeing, and lower risk of burnout.
Conductors can clearly track and prove outcomes such as:
Impact: Funders can see exactly how their support changes lives.
Conductive Education focuses on ability, not disability. Funding helps children learn what they can do, fostering determination, confidence, and self-belief from the earliest years.
Impact: Children grow up seeing themselves as capable.
When a charity funds a family’s access to CE, it isn’t just paying for sessions — it is investing in:
Impact: Compassion becomes practical, lasting change.
When families can access CE, children are better prepared to participate in:
This reduces exclusion and promotes inclusion from the very start.
Impact: A more inclusive society begins in early childhood.
